FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • We provide in person services in Chittenden County, VT. Our remote platform also allows us to see families in the rural corners of the state that don’t have adequate access to care.

  • We are working on getting credentialed with some insurance companies but at this time we are private pay only. We can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

  • Standard therapy sessions are $165 per visit, and evaluations and re-evaluations are $350. If you would like more information on our rates or are in need of financial assistance, please fill out our contact us form.

  • The caregiver coaching model is an interactive process between a caregiver and therapist where we observe what you are already doing, join you in reflection about your routine, model something new to try, and support you in practicing this strategy in real time as well as in the time between visits.

  • With the flexibility of a parent-coaching model we are able to coach you through implementing strategies to enhance your daily routines with your child. Evidence shows that the less hands-on clinicians are, the more empowered families feel to embrace these strategies and make change within their own routines. This, in turn, allows for far more “therapy” time as most providers see children 1-2x/week for 2 hours maximum while you spend infinitely more time with your child.

  • We will complete a play-based evaluation and ask you a range of questions to gather formal and informal information regarding your child’s development. We gather a detailed medical and developmental history, complete a routines-based interview, and use standardized assessments to determine eligibility for our services.

During a remote evaluation we will ask you to set up your video device (phone, computer, or tablet) so that we can see your child interacting with you and their materials.

Please see our approach page for more details!

  • Each session is unique as our sessions reflect your personal daily routines. We can join you for mealtime and coach you through offering your child new foods or utensils, teaching them how to communicate wants and needs at the table, or how to best position your child for the safest feeding possible. We can join you for a play session at the park, or join you at the beach to support your child in following directions while in public.

When remote, we can go wherever your device can go.

  • While we love seeing your little ones on screen, they are not required to be on screen for the entire visit. We have strategies for optimal view (setting up the camera across the room with a horizontal view), but our primary concern is that we can see and hear you! Our caregiver coaching model allows for us to join you in reflecting on your routines and experiencing them together when possible.

  • The length and frequency of services will depend on your child’s individual needs. This could look like 30-90 minute visits 1-2 times per week, or check-ins 1-2 times per month.

  • Our goal is to support you until your child transitions to the school system at which time the educational therapy team will take over our services. We intend to support your child in their transition to whatever comes next.

  • Our feeding therapist is trained in The Sequential Oral Sensory Approach to Feeding (SOS), Supporting Oral Feeding in Fragile Infants (SOFFI), and is a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC). At IDT we believe in creating a trusting relationship between a caregiver and a child using a responsive feeding approach.

  • Our therapists have experience in a wide variety of diagnosis including, but not limited to: Developmental Delays, Prematurity, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Cerebral Palsy, Stroke, Down Syndrome, Hypo/Hypertonia, Seizure Disorders, Traumatic Brain Injury, Neurofibromatosis, Trach Dependence, Congenital Heart Defects, Cleft Lip/Palate, Angelman’s Syndrome, Prader Willi Syndrome, Eosinophilic Esophagitis, Feeding Tube Dependence, Pediatric Feeding Disorders, Limb Differences, Achondroplasia, Failure to Thrive, Autism, Hearing Loss, Vision Loss, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

  • Our primary age range is from birth to three years of age. We intend to support children until they transition to the public school systems at Preschool or Kindergarten. However, if your child is three to six years of age and not able to receive school based services we would love to work with you.
